FAQS
What happens during the first session?
Our first session is an opportunity to get to know one another. We'll explore what has brought you to therapy, what you're hoping to achieve, and whether we feel we're a good fit to work together.
How many sessions will I need?
There isn't a fixed number. Some people attend for a few weeks, while others choose longer-term therapy. We'll regularly review your progress together.
Is everything confidential?
Yes. Everything discussed during counselling is confidential. There are a small number of legal and ethical exceptions where confidentiality may need to be broken if there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else. These will be explained during our first session.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can contact me directly to arrange an appointment.
What issues do you work with?
I support adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, shame, life transitions, attachment difficulties, emotional regulation, and many other emotional challenges.
What if I'm nervous?
Many people feel anxious before their first session. That's completely understandable. You don't need to prepare anything or know exactly what to say. We will work at your pace.
Are sessions online secure?
Yes. Online sessions take place using a secure platform designed to protect your privacy.
What if counselling isn't right for me?
The relationship between counsellor and client is important. If we decide that another service or therapist would better meet your needs, I'll do my best to help you find appropriate support.
